State Comptroller and Ombudsman Matanyahu Englman toured sites damaged by missile fire in Petah Tikva and Herzliya (June 17, 2025), together with senior officials from his office. The Comptroller and his team met with evacuees currently staying at the Daniel Hotel in Herzliya. The purpose was to closely assess the government’s response regarding the evacuated residents and the damaged sites.
Also taking part in the tour were Chairman of the Federation of Local Authorities and Mayor of Modi’in Haim Bibas, Mayor of Petah Tikva Rami Greenberg, and Mayor of Herzliya Yariv Fisher.
During the tour, the State Comptroller addressed the special attention that authorities must give to senior citizens and people with disabilities, and revealed that a report on the subject had just been completed.
He said: “The damage we saw during the visit highlights the significant risk faced—especially by senior citizens and people with disabilities—due to the current gaps in protection.
In recent days, we completed a report on the lessons of the Iron Swords War with regard to the evacuation of senior citizens and people with disabilities.
The Ministry of Welfare must accompany and assist efforts to provide appropriate solutions for these populations. Among the victims and casualties are senior citizens and people with disabilities. They must be given special attention. We will continue to monitor how these populations are being treated in particular.”
At the direction of the State Comptroller, the Office’s Ombudsman Division is operating a telephone hotline for individuals affected by the state of emergency—including senior citizens and people with disabilities—who did not receive an adequate response from public bodies. In response to the state of emergency, the hotline operates Sunday through Thursday, from 08:00 to 17:00, at Tel. No. 02-6665199 and via WhatsApp at 050-3995422.
