Accessibility of the website

An accessible website is a website that allows people with disabilities and elderly people to surf the web with the same level of efficiency and enjoyment as most surfers. There are about 1.6 million people with disabilities currently living in Israel. Statistics show that there are large gaps between people with disabilities and people without disabilities in all areas of life.

The Office of the State Comptroller and Ombudsman believes in and strives for equal opportunities online for people with varied impairments and people requiring assistive technology to use the computer.

Information on the website's accessibility

  • This website complies with the requirements of the Equal Rights for People with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Adjustments) Regulations, 5773-2013.
  • The accessibility adjustments were made according to the recommendations of Israeli Standard (IS 5568) for making content on the internet accessible at the AA level and according to the international WCAG2.0 document.
  • The tests were examined for the highest compatibility with the Chrome browser.
  • The website provides a semantic structure for assistive technologies and support for the standard use pattern for keyboard operation with the aid of the arrow, Enter and Esc keys for exiting the menus and windows.
  • The website is customized for presentation on the common browsers and the use of a cellphone.
To benefit from an optimum surfing experience with screen reading software, we recommend using the most recently updated NVDA program.
  • If you have encountered any documents, video clips or other kinds of information that are not fully accessible, you may contact the accessibility coordinator (whose details are set out below), and he will arrange to make them accessible for you free of charge.
  • The tests and advice on making the website accessible were conducted by the company A2Z Digital Accessibility and Marketing.
