State Comptroller Matanyahu Englman and representatives of the audit divisions in the Office toured Hatzerim and Revivim last Wednesday (January 22, 2025). The tour was conducted as part of the ongoing audit on the rehabilitation of Gaza Envelope communities by the Tekuma Administration and the Settlement Division of the Ministry of Settlement Affairs. Simultaneously, an audit is being conducted on the rehabilitation of northern Israel.
During the tour, Comptroller Englman met with leaders of Kibbutz Be’eri, whose homes were rebuilt on lands of Kibbutz Hatzerim, as well as with residents of Kibbutz Holit, whose homes were built on lands of Kibbutz Revivim. Additionally, he met with contractors carrying out the development and construction work, the CEO of the Settlement Division, Hoshaya Harari, and the Deputy Chairman of the World Zionist Organization and Head of its Settlement Division, Gael Greenwald.
Comptroller Englman: "The residents of the Gaza Envelope experienced severe trauma on October 7, having been abandoned to bloodthirsty terrorists. I met them in hotels at the Dead Sea and Eilat nearly a year ago. I witnessed their resilience and their determination to rebuild their communities, despite the many challenges involved. It is the state's duty to complete the rehabilitation as soon as possible.
These meetings with residents are part of our office's audit process on this issue. Field visits are crucial for closely assessing the gaps in relation to the residents' needs".
