Due to the intervention of the Office of the Ombudsman, the Ministry of Labor agreed to accept documents that the complainant had not submitted on time due to reserve duty, and he was able to receive a subsidy toward daycare tuition
The complainant, an IDF orphan who had been called up for active reserve duty, contacted the Office of the Ombudsman, complaining that the Ministry of Labor had refused to allow him to complete documents for the purpose of determining his eligibility for a subsidy toward daycare center tuition. The complainant explained that on the final date fixed for submitting the documents he had been on reserve duty, and therefore he had not been able to submit them on time.
Following the intervention of the Office of the Ombudsman, which emphasized to the Ministry of Labor that the policy of the government ministries is to make things easier for persons called up for reserve duty, including allowing them to submit documents late, the Ministry of Labor announced that in view of the circumstances it would accept the documents that the complainant wished to submit.
Subsequently, the complainant's request was considered by the Exceptions Committee at the Ministry of Labor, which found him eligible for a subsidy, and he was paid accordingly
This complaint was one of many similar complaints received in the Office of the Ombudsman.from reservists, some of whom described the financial hardship caused them. The Office dealt with these complaints as well, the Ministry of Labor agreed to accept the documents and subsequently determined the eligibility of the complainants for tuition subsidies - all within a few days.
