The State Comptroller: "Following Operation Rising Lion, we submitted a highly confidential report to the Prime Minister, the Minister of Defense and the Chief of the General Staff regarding the air defense system – they must address the issues raised in the report"
The State Comptroller and Ombudsman, Matanyahu Englman, toured the Iranian missile impact sites in Dimona and Arad today.
The Comptroller witnessed firsthand the destruction together with the Mayor of Dimona, Benny Bitton, and the Mayor of Arad, Yair Ma'ayan, and spoke with residents who had been adversely affected by the lack of sufficient protection.
During the tour, the Comptroller revealed that he had produced a flash report that is currently relevant concerning the state's readiness for the aerial threats.
"We completed a completely confidential and classified report on the matter of aerial protection following Operation Rising Lion. The report was presented to the Prime Minister, the Minister of Defense and the Chief of the General Staff even before the outbreak of the war. Despite the IDF's tremendous efforts, there were places that we did not succeed in defending. I call upon the leadership: Learn the lessons now. This is a matter of life and death".
The Comptroller also referred to the protection gaps in the periphery and said: "TAMA 38 is not relevant in the periphery. In cities such as Dimona and Arad, the land values are low and so the contractors have no motivation to carry out protection and TAMA projects. The state cannot abandon the periphery to the mercy of the market. Without a coherent state-budgeted plan, the southern cities will remain exposed. Tonight we saw the painful results of these protection gaps, and it is the government's moral obligation to provide an immediate response for this".
