The State Comptroller and Ombudsman also wished a complete recovery to the wounded IDF soldiers: "We must also remember on this holiday those who put their lives on the line so that we can light the Hanukkah candles in Jerusalem"
Last night (16.12.25), the State Comptroller and Ombudsman, Matanyahu Englman, lit the third Hanukkah candle at the traditional Chabad candle lighting ceremony next to the Central Bus Station in Jerusalem.
Before the ceremony, the Comptroller wished to acknowledge Chabad's activity worldwide and added: "Our hearts are with the families of the murdered and with the injured from the terrible massacre in Australia".
He said, "The holiday of Hanukkah teaches us that the few overcome the many and the righteous the wicked. The people of Israel have come a long way, we have also proved this during the past two years. I would like to take this opportunity to wish a complete recovery to the wounded IDF soldiers and security forces and also remember at this holiday those who lost their lives, their families and those who put their lives on the line so that we are able to light the Hanukkah candles in Jerusalem this evening".
