The monthly newsletter of the European Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (EUROSAI), headed by State Comptroller Matanyahu Engelman, dedicated extensive coverage to the activities of the State Comptroller’s Office of Israel
The newsletter of the European Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (EUROSAI), which provides monthly updates to audit institutions across the continent on professional news and developments, dedicated extensive coverage in its October issue to the activities of the Israeli State Comptroller’s Office, which currently serves as the Presidency of EUROSAI until 2027.
“The Israeli audit institution is unique in that its head serves both as the State Comptroller and as the Ombudsman,” the article noted, adding that the Office publishes around 100 audit reports and handles approximately 22,000 complaints each year.
The newsletter reported on the international audit currently led by the State Comptroller and Ombudsman of Israel, conducted in cooperation with audit institutions from Europe and around the world. The audit examines how various governments are preparing to address the challenge of population ageing – an issue faced by many countries. “This audit reflects a forward-looking approach, exploring welfare, health, and economic aspects of this global challenge,” the newsletter stated.
The article also highlighted the innovative tools employed by the Israeli audit institution, including artificial intelligence systems and advanced technologies that enable large-scale statistical analysis. “The Office has established two cyber audit divisions that have developed innovative methodologies, including penetration tests designed to identify vulnerabilities in the information security systems of audited bodies,” it said.
Finally, the newsletter praised the steps taken to make audit reports more accessible to the general public, including the publication of report summaries featuring key data, charts, and photographs – as well as the Office’s growing presence on social media platforms.
