Director of the Public Complaints Commission, Adv. Carmit Panton, and Deputy Director, Adv. Ronit Zandberg represented the Office of the State Comptroller and Ombudsman of Israel at the conference of the Association of Mediterranean Ombudsmen (AOM), held in Malta.
The conference took place in Malta on October 15–16 to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Maltese Ombudsman’s Office.
It focused on safeguarding good governance in challenging times and was attended by the President of Malta, the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition, and the Speaker of Parliament.
During the conference, Director Panton and Deputy Director Zandberg met with ombudsmen and delegation representatives from various countries, including Albania, the Netherlands, Cyprus, Egypt, Estonia, and Armenia. They presented the measures taken by the Israeli Ombudsman’s Office to assist populations affected during Operation Iron Swords and Operation With a Lion’s Heart, and discussed ways to strengthen cooperation and peer learning between Israel’s Public Complaints Commission and ombudsman institutions around the world.
