State Comptroller Englman during the Makor Rishon and Lev Academic Center Conference: "Within the framework of our democracy, state audit holds paramount importance, and no individual is exempt from it"
State Comptroller Englman addressed the audit pertaining to the Iron Swords War in an interview with Haggai Segal (Tuesday, May 27, 2025) at the Makor Rishon and the Lev Academic Center's Security and Technology Conference.
"The audit will examine the responsibilities across all levels – political, security, and civilian – along with the interactions between them", he stated. "The investigations the IDF conducts attribute primary responsibility to the field levels. The citizens of Israel are entitled to answers."
The State Comptroller noted that "M.K. Mickey Levy of the 'Yesh Atid' party, Chairman of the State Audit Committee, is the sole member of the Knesset who has requested an investigation into the failures of the October incidents; However, he has recently reversed his position, possibly in response to the audit that has also begun investigating his party's leader."
The State Comptroller also addressed former Prime Minister Yair Lapid's refusal to cooperate with the audit: "It is inappropriate. Every individual, particularly the former Prime Minister, must cooperate with the audit process. Our team arrives for a working meeting only to encounter a narrative of distrust. This is unacceptable. Every party is required to cooperate. We are investigating all levels, and the failures will be revealed alongside the responsible parties."
