The State Comptroller and Ombudsman, Matanyahu Englman, toured with his team (14.5.2025) the educational institutions in Shlomi and Kibbutz Kabri. The tour was accompanied by the Head of the Mateh Asher Council and the Chairman of the Frontline Forum, Moshe Davidovich, the Head of the Shlomi Council, Gabi Naaman, and the Director of the Northern District in the Ministry of Education, Dr. Orna Simchon.

As part of the visit, the District Director and the school principals surveyed the meaningful activity in the field of pedagogic and emotional education during the war, the challenges faced by the educational system upon the return of the residents to their homes, and the preparation for the next school year. It transpired from the survey that the majority of students had returned to the institutions, after a year and a half where they had not studied regularly, and that the teaching staffs are investing a great deal both from the educational aspect and from the emotional aspect.

The State Comptroller announced that a report on the subject of "The government's treatment of the northern localities during the Swords of Iron War" would be published during the coming days. The report examined the government's treatment of the socioeconomic situation of the frontline localities, the need to formulate the government-civilian response and the delay in providing the comprehensive government response for the northern localities.

The State Comptroller also added that "The challenges the educational system is facing in the north compel the government to allocate resources in good time in preparation for the next school year".
