State Comptroller Matanyahu Englman toured today (8.9.24), together with his Office's Director General Brigadier-General (Res.) Ishay Vaknin and senior staff from his office, in schools in Sderot and the Gaza Envelope, in order to examine at close hand the opening of the school year in the educational systems there. This was done as part of the audit process currently being conducted by the Office of the State Comptroller concerning the evacuation of the population from the north and south – and following a similar tour that took place on the Confrontation Line in the north last Thursday.

Comptroller Englman meeting with students

As part of today's tour, the Comptroller met with the mayor of Sderot Alon Davidi, with the head of the Eshkol Council Gadi Yarkoni, and with the educational teams in the schools he visited.

"As part of the audit we are visiting sites in the south and north to see the gaps with our own eyes and to point out the defects so that they may be rectified", said Comptroller Englman. "The State Audit deals with all the echelons – the political, the civilian and the military, and all of us must cooperate with the audit for the benefit of the citizens of Israel".
