Gadi Yarkoni, the head of the Eshkol Regional Council, briefed the State Comptroller about the brutal attack done by Hamas terrorists on Saturday, October 7. He emphasized several pressing issues that require immediate attention, stressing the need for swift and efficient responses from government ministries to support the communities in the council and the residents who have been displaced, covering short-term to long term needs for recovery and growth.
Yarkoni also called for the removal of bureaucratic barriers to initiate the recovery process for all Eshkol Regional Council residents. He mentioned that, the council had taken on all the costs but lacked a structured reimbursement process from various government ministries.
According to State Comptroller Engelman, "On the tragic Saturday, October 7, residents of the Gaza Envelope were targeted by Hamas terrorists. The IDF was engaged in combat and simultaneously, civilian government ministries were tasked with providing immediate assistance and care to Gaza Envelope residents who lost their homes due to extremely challenging events. This assistance was also intended for residents of conflict zones in the south and north who were displaced from their homes. I have contacted the relevant ministers to ensure immediate and effective assistance for the Gaza Envelope evacuees. Furthermore, we will closely monitor these actions from the State Comptroller's office."
