Story of a Complaint: Advancing development works in open public area (17.5.23)

Following the intervention of the Office of the Ombudsman, the development works in a public area were advanced, and a garden was built for the benefit of local residents

In his complaint to the Office of the Ombudsman, the complainant claimed that the Pardes Hanna-Karkur Local Council had acquisitioned a piece of land at the front of the building in which he lived and designated it as an open public area, but had not developed the area. The complainant added that the council had not responded to his inquiries on the matter.

It transpired that the complainant had contacted the head of the Town Improvement Department at the council, who had told him that the garden would be built in February 2023. The works had indeed commenced in that month but had ceased before completion.

In response to the Office of the Ombudsman's inquiry, the council informed the Office that it had an organized plan to build a garden, with an irrigation system, and that the work would be completed within a short period.

The complainant attached a picture of the said area:

And indeed, the council built a garden and rockery at the front of the building, to the satisfaction of the complainant and for the benefit of all the building's occupants.
