Comptroller Englman Met with Evacuees from Kfar Aza who are Staying at the Shefayim Hotel (13.11.23)

State Comptroller met (9.11.23) with evacuees from Kfar Aza who are staying at the Shefayim Hotel and heard about the discrepancies in the government care provided for them, even five weeks after the massacre that took place in the kibbutz on 7.10.23.

State Comptroller Matanyahu Englman clarified that it is impossible to accept with equanimity the discrepancies in the government care of the evacuees, and in particular the evacuees from the kibbutzim which had experienced the horrifying massacre. At the end of the meeting the Comptroller visited a pub that had been established at the hotel, which is identical to the pub that used to be at the kibbutz.

In addition, the State Comptroller met at the Klil Malchut wedding venue in Bnei Brak with families from the ultra-Orthodox sector who had left their homes in Netivot and Ofakim of their own accord, in view of the security situation. The Comptroller saw the significant overcrowding and heard about the distress of the families staying there, most of whom come from a low socioeconomic background. The evacuees described the whole range of problems they are dealing with, the high financial cost of operating the site and the fact that the thousands of evacuees are in need of donations to finance their stay.

Comptroller Englman said at the end of the visit: "The authorities must provide a fitting solution for the evacuees whose homes are unsafe, and in particular for families who have children with special needs".
