On Monday (10.7.23), State Comptroller Matanyahu Englman conducted an unannounced audit at the northern border. Presently, after the audit took place, the teams will prepare the report which will be published after the High Holy Days.

Within the framework of the unannounced audit, Comptroller Englman, the Office's Director-General Yishai Vaknin, the Director of the Defense Forces Audit Division Eitan Dahan, and the Division's employees, were divided into four teams. Each team examined two outposts, and so the audit took place in eight outposts, at just one day's notice.

The Comptroller conducted the audit at the Har Dov outpost and at other outposts of the Galilee Formation and the Bashan Division. The Comptroller also traveled close to the Hezbollah post near the Tzipporen outpost. Within the framework of the audit, defense solutions were also examined while paying attention to building the northern obstacle, which has not yet been completed.

The Comptroller and the audit teams met with the senior-ranking officers at the site and also with the soldiers – in a discourse which did not include the commanders. The audit's focus was the capability and readiness of the forces for their ongoing operational missions and the possibility of the front heating up, alongside infrastructures and living conditions.

State Comptroller Matanyahu Englman: "In recent years the security reality in the North is worrisome, Hezbollah has set up frontal positions in violation of Resolution 1701, and we must ascertain the IDF's readiness for every scenario. Therefore, we at the State Comptroller's Office are required to examine whether the tactical echelon in the army has the necessary preparedness and whether the combat soldiers are receiving the necessary resources and conditions required for fulfilling their missions. I wish to thank the combat soldiers and officers who spend days and nights defending the northern border in difficult conditions, and also for opening their doors and hosting us despite only one day's notice given before the audit. We shall publish the findings in a report to be submitted in the coming months".
