As part of the "Meet the Comptroller" project, State Comptroller Matanyahu Englman met yesterday (23.1.23) with about 130 11th grade students from the Leyada School in Jerusalem.

The Comptroller surveyed the activity of the Office of the State Comptroller and Ombudsman and told the students that he was pleased with the interest they demonstrate in the Office's important work. In his words, Comptroller Englman placed emphasis on audit of a social nature.

"The main role of the State audit is to lend an ear and act as a mouthpiece for populations whose voice is not always heard in Israeli society and to emphasis the gaps between the periphery and the center and low socioeconomic status sectors", he said. "As the Ombudsman, I attach importance to expanding the accessibility of the activity of the Office of the Ombudsman to all strata of society and in particular to populations worthy of promotion.

I positively regard the willingness of high schools to come and learn the important work being carried out here. Public awareness assists in rectifying deficiencies and considering our recommendations by the audited bodies".
