The State Comptroller and Ombudsman, Matanyahu Englman, and senior office staff met today (15.1.23) at the Office of the State Comptroller in Jerusalem with the Chairman of the State Control Committee, MK Mickey Levy, and with the Committee staff, for an introductory discussion regarding the offices' audit and public complaints activity. The Committee's chairman received a comprehensive survey from the directors of the audit divisions and the director of the Office of the Ombudsman about the reports made during recent years.

State Comptroller Matanyahu Englman: "The audit reports we publish concern the most substantive issues of Israeli society, such as personal security, integrity and proper governance, safeguarding public funds, receiving service in all spheres of life and environmental protection. A large part of our activity is dedicated to reinforcing the effectiveness of the reports, which is increasing all the time. There is no doubt that the existence of the State Control Committee will significantly intensify the effectiveness of the reports. I thank the chairman of the Committee, MK Mickey Levy, for his willingness to act to rectify the deficiencies on the part of the audited bodies. The Office of the State Comptroller is at the Committee's disposal for discussing any audit report".

The chairman of the State Control Committee, MK Mickey Levy: "The Office of the State Comptroller is a gigantic aircraft carrier whose method of operation and staff must be recognized and studied. I thank the State Comptroller and his staff for the impressive survey. After two years in which the Committee's work was paralyzed, the time has come to operate it with full force in conjunction with the Office of the State Comptroller, to ascertain that the deficiencies are rectified for the benefit of the public. I will not allow the Comptroller's reports to gather dust and I will help him goad the audited bodies into action".
