The State Comptroller and Ombudsman Met with the Minister of Transport (April 25, 2022)

State Comptroller Englman: "The Ministry of Transport is of special importance to Israel's citizens in many spheres including infrastructure development, and particularly public transport"

State Comptroller Matanyahu Englman met with Minister of Transport and Road Safety Merav Michaeli, in the framework of meetings he is holding with the ministers of the 36th government of Israel. In the meeting the Comptroller presented to the Minister the results of auditing during the past two years and the state auditing plan regarding the Ministry of Transport for the coming years.

State Comptroller Englman: "The Ministry of Transport is of special importance to Israel's citizens in many spheres including infrastructure development, and particularly public transport. The Office of the State Comptroller sees great importance in this, and I am certain that the Minister of Transport will also lead the implementation of the Comptroller's report recommendations on these issues."

Minister of Transport and Road Safety Merav Michaeli: "The state audit reports are an important source for improving and bettering our work at the Ministry of Transport and I see great importance in cooperation with the Comptroller and his Office. In parallel with implementing the conclusions of auditing that was carried out, I am certain that the Comptroller will examine the severe condition of building the Ministry's capabilities, the huge shortage of manpower necessary for meeting the Ministry's increasing tasks, and the lack of systematic operation and long-term thinking that were handed to us. All of these will help us in our hard work at the Ministry of Transport in order to meet our critical national targets and tasks in the coming years in order to get the State of Israel out of its traffic jam."
