The State Comptroller visits the Bank of Israel

During the course of the visit, the State Comptroller was given a review regarding the state of the Israeli economy during the COVID-19 crisis and the bank’s preparations for operating in the digital age

Today (13.7.2020), the State Comptroller and Ombudsman, Mr. Matanyahu Englman visited the Bank of Israel together with the Head of the Economics and National Infrastructures Division at the Office of the State Comptroller, Mr. Tzahi Sa’ad, and Ehud Landerman, the head of the Office of the State Comptroller’s department focusing on the activity of the Bank of Israel.

At the beginning of the tour, the visitors met the Governor of the Bank of Israel and the Bank’s management, who described to the Comptroller and his team the challenges the Bank of Israel faced during the COVID-19 crisis, as well as the central bank’s targets for the next few years.

During the visit, the Comptroller and his team, who were accompanied by the Director General of the Bank of Israel, visited the Currency Department’s safe rooms, the control room and the new building that was built as an extension of the main building. At the end of the tour, the Governor of the Bank of Israel reviewed the state of the Israeli economy during the course of the COVID-19 crisis and the steps taken by the Bank of Israel to deal with this crisis; the review also touched upon other issues relating to the Bank of Israel’s activity, including its preparations for operating in the digital age.
