Housing solution for Holocaust survivor

In the course of the investigation of complaints received by the Office of the Ombudsman, many complaints of Holocaust survivors are dealt with

The complainant, an elderly, childless and blind Holocaust survivor, filed an application for public housing.  Since he had "new immigrant" status, he was instructed to file the application with the Ministry of Aliyah (Immigration) and Integration. 

The Ministry of Aliyah offered the complainant an apartment in public housing, but the complainant refused the offer after it transpired that the apartment had serious plumbing problems.  The complainant asked to receive urgent alternative assistance, but according to him no housing solution had been offered to him.

Through the intervention of the Office of the Ombudsman, the Ministry of Aliyah notified the Office that the complainant had been offered an alternative apartment, which suited his needs.  After agreeing to live in the apartment, the complainant received an accommodation referral and is expected to move into the apartment upon its renovation.
